Yaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy!
Yaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy!
Halfway through April already, holy crap. The lease on the apartment officially begins today (although we've had the keys for a couple of weeks already). Movers are coming on the 25th. I have to figure out how I'm going to get all my crap from Piano Row to the apartment...I'll probably organize some sort of brigade of people to carry my stuff on the T, and then I'll reward them with pizza. Something like that.
Today I put a deposit on an apartment for this summer and next year. It's kind of amazing. Lee and I love it.
I had to fight a bit to get it, since some of my parents were concerned by the area's crime rates. East Boston definitely has a bit of a bad reputation, but when you look at the maps that show major crimes that have occurred in the last year, my current stomping grounds are far worse. Hell, someone got knifed at the movie theater by Emerson just last month. There are definitely problems in East Boston, but I think the pros of this apartment outweigh the cons.
Anyway, it's technically a 2 bedroom, but the second bedroom is tiny, so we're probably just going to make it into a library/guest room. There's a big living room, a kitchen with a fridge, gas stove, and dishwasher, a nice bathroom, and a teensy yard. It's cat-friendly, there's a washer and dryer in the basement, there's a ton of windows, 4 closets, and there's a water view. It's not the nicest water view ever, but it's still awesome. The landlord is a plumber and he lives upstairs. There's a gas station and general store yards away, and a super convenient bus stop. The bus goes to the Maverick Square T stop, and then from there, it takes 12 minutes to get to Boylston Street. Awesome.
So yeah, I'm pretty freakin' happy right now.

My Boskone 46 report is over here.
I hate the idea of leaving this journal behind, so here I am, updating. I doubt I could ever give up LJ for realz, since I'm on it daily, checking communities and whatnot, but I keep forgetting to post. Silly me. However, I'm making an effort to blog more in general (though mostly in my pseudo-professional blog), so yeah. Here I am.
This semester, I'm taking 3 classes--Sophomore Honors 2, Intermediate Creative Nonfiction, and International Women Writers. I only have class 2 days a week, which is kickass, but I set up my schedule that way so I could work, and I still haven't managed to find a job. Sigh. BUT, I'm going to an open interview thing at California Pizza Kitchen next week, so we'll see how that goes.
Right now, the biggest thing on my mind is INTERNSHIP SEASONNNN! I'm looking for either an editorial internship at a book publisher or a general internship at a literary agency. As of now, I have a full list of 18 possibilities and a slightly narrowed-down list of 13. We'll see how it goes. It won't entirely be the end of the world if I don't get one for this summer (I'd just concentrate on next summer, instead), but I'd still really like to get some work experience.
Also, Lee and I are already looking at apartments for this summer/next year. So yeah, uh, if anyone happens to read this and knows of a studio or 1 bedroom apartment in the Boston area (not downtown, probably...most likely in the surrounding areas--Allston, Malden, East Boston, etc.) for $1000/month or less, available 5/1...you know who to talk to. Must be unfurnished, allow cats, and have some sort of laundry in the building (coin-op is fine).

As of yesterday, this LJ is five years old. That's kind of ridiculous.
My birthday was two days ago. In related news, I am posting this from my beautiful new iPhone. Yay!
Holy shit you guys, this is so fucking exciting!!!!!!!
I just realized how long it's been since I last posted. I'm on LJ all the time, but I mostly just lurk and read and stuff. But anyway...
I'm only gonna be in town for a few more weeks. I think I'm probably going to move into Piano Row on September 6th, so I'll probably be leaving Branford the day before. I'm not looking forward to packing. Oh well.
Work is going well. I have a fairly epic farmer's tan and more sunglasses than I know what to do with. I just wish I had made more money this summer than I did. I'll try to get a job in Boston, definitely. I just hope I'll be able to manage work + classwork, since I'm gonna be doing a lotttttt of writing.
Later today, Lee and I are heading up to VT until Wednesday. It's a long drive, but it's fun...like a mini road trip! Plus, gas is cheaper up there.

I:
-have been in Branford since the 8th.
-will be living here all summer.
-am living with Lee and Roxie.
-have a car!
-have a very sweet car indeed!
-will go as far as to say that I have a badass vroom vroom mobile!
-don't have my license.
-have applied to a good 8 jobs by now.
-still don't have a damn job.
-am paying for food, gas, and some of the bills.
-need a job.
-really need a job.
-sigh.
But anyway, I'm enjoying being back so far. It's weird going from living in a building occupied by hundreds of people to one occupied by 2 people and 1 cat, but I'm readjusting.
Lee and I have begun a new diet. Four pounds down, twenty-one to go!
(Hate diets. Ugh. Oh well.)
Anyway, if anyone's around and wants to hang out, lemme know.
I love summer ♥

ROFLcon FTW!
The weather today made me so happy ♥
60something degrees, sunny, nice breeze.
It was fantastic.
Yesterday I picked my classes for next semester. Advanced Fiction, Intro to Nonfiction, British Lit, and Sophomore Honors. I'll have Fridays off, which is totally awesome. I'm a little upset that I wasn't able to get into Copyediting, since there was only one class, and it filled up the first day of registration, but it's all good.
My housing selection time is tomorrow. We (Alyssa, Meaghan, Natasha, Rayna, Steph, and I) are going to be living in Piano Row next year, and since my selection time is first, I get the task of picking the suite. Thus, I am not going to Honors tomorrow. Yay! (And with that, I will have used up all of my absences for the semester. I'll just have to hope that I don't get sick between now and May 8th.)
Lee and I are going to see Tally Hall in Allston on Sunday night. It should be fun, though I'm a little iffy about the other band that's playing. I didn't particularly enjoy the stuff they had posted on their Myspace, but we'll see.
It's supposed to rain for the next few days. Damn.

Spring Break is almost over, and to be honest, I'm kind of happy about that. I miss Boston for realz. This summer I should be fine, since I'll be back at the Cottage, but this whole 'switching between Gramma Janice's house and Dad's house and living out of my bags' thing is kind of getting to me. Well, that and the fact that my family is somewhat composed of lunatics. It's great to see them, just not when they're doing crazy things--like getting botox and dating ex-husband #2 (Mom), or calling me to tell me to compliment his wife on her painting abilities (Dad). Oh, life. Why are you so very silly sometimes?
On the plus side, I saw a bunch of awesome relatives, and I got to see Kristen twice, and I'll be seeing Claire tomorrow, and I mostly did my taxes, and I should be up $200+ once I write to Regal and get them to give me my final paycheck, and my tummy is happy about the large quantities of delicious food I've consumed recently.
Things I am bringing to Boston that I did not have when I left:
- Several books
- A pair of overpriced pants
- A new toothbrush and tube of toothpaste (Clover chewed up my old ones)
- Two Polaroid cameras
- One pack of overpriced Polaroid film
- A working 1930s typewriter
- A small thing of hairspray
- A new haircut. Finally.
Of course, when I get back I need to write the first five pages of my Honors paper, which are due at 10am on Monday. Eh heh. Oops.
Then I can get my Irish on.
Wait. Crap.
Do I even own anything green?

Lee and I are in CT until the 16th. If anybody is around and wants to hang out, gimme a call!
I haven't made a real post in quite a while. Clearly that must be remedied. Kind of. This isn't really a real post. It's more of an update.
For one thing, I did A Day in my Life a while ago. I documented the day of the Spice Girls concert. Teehee. It was awesome.
This weekend, I went to Boskone, a smallish SciFi/Fantasy convention. It was rather awesome. Here's my smallish con report.
( xposted to my pseudo-professional blog )
Every Saturday night from 6 to 8, Lee and his friend Adam have an "eclectic mixtape" radio show. Y'all should give it a listen some time.
Er, I think that's all for now.

Spice Girls = amazing. That is all.
In three hours, I will be seeing Rufus Wainwright for the second time. Woohoo!
Yeah...I'm in New Jersey with Mom for a week. We'll be coming back to CT on Friday, and I leave for school the next day. I kind of can't wait, 'cause I was really getting used to the convinience of everything. Being home feels so strange to me.
Anyway, I'm in New Jersey. Yay?

So, I got back from Vermont yesterday. I was really sad to leave, though I must admit that I was reallyreally excited about being warm. Warmmmmth. It's awesome.
Anyway, I had a good time with Lee. We drove around a lot and ate delicious food and went to movies (Juno and Sweeney Todd) and rented movies (Knocked Up and Superbad) and generally had a pretty good, though effing cold, time.
My new years resolutions are:
(1) Get back down to 145 lbs
(2) Procrastinate less, especially when schoolwork is involved
(3) Be more conscious of my appearance
Also, I saw the silliest thing at a Family Dollar a few days ago:

I'm in Vermont. Well, actually, I'm in New Hampshire right now, but whatever. I'm having a fabulous time, though I have been forced to conceed that yes, Connecticut doesn't know shit about snow.
A real update (gasp) may actually occur when I get back. Maybe.

[in no particular order]
[1] For the first time in many years, I have not been sent into a day or two of shopping panic by the impending arrival of Christmas. This is because I finished my shopping a week ago. Hah!
[2] Christmas in general is awesome. Also, my mom will be making cheezy poofs.
[3] I saw my kitty yesterday.
[4] I got a new sword from a shop in New Hope, Pennsylvania.
[5] I ate a lobster roll for dinner. Nom nom nom.
[6] I more-or-less patched things up with Mike on Thursday night. Fuck yeah!
[7] I got to see Dawnsy and Claire and a gajillion other people, and shall continue to do so.
[8] I got my grades-- B, A-, A, A. Not too shabby.
[9] There is a plentiful amount of Diet Coke in my grandmother's house
[10] On Sunday, December 30th, at approx. 12:50 pm, I will be with Lee.
Things I am unhappy about right now:
[1] It is not December 30th.
